Glory to God 2024 - AI Stage Visual Design

 

Glory to God — “В ожидании Чуда” was a 2024 Christmas stage production created for Steps to Christ SDA Church in Federal Way, Washington. For this project, I developed a series of AI-generated biblical visuals for LED wall presentation, designed to support a live theatrical retelling of prophetic and gospel-centered scenes connected to the coming of Christ.

The challenge was not simply to create beautiful images, but to build a consistent visual world that could move across multiple biblical settings while still feeling unified, reverent, and dramatically effective on stage. The imagery needed to feel cinematic, historically suggestive, and emotionally strong without overpowering the performers or distracting from the message.

 
 

The visuals shown above were created as part of a broader art-direction process rather than a one-click experiment. I used AI image generation to explore multiple biblical environments — deserts, sacred architecture, shepherd scenes, Egypt, and dramatic Old Testament moments — while refining prompts, comparing tools, and selecting results based on tone, composition, stage readability, and narrative fit.

A major creative decision was to avoid overly polished or sentimental “holiday” imagery. Instead, I pursued a darker, more cinematic atmosphere that could better communicate the weight of biblical history and the hope of divine intervention. This direction also served a practical purpose: darker, more controlled backgrounds allowed the LED wall to support the performers on stage instead of visually competing with them.

 
 

In the final production, these visuals became part of a real stage environment shaped by lighting, live performance, and camera framing. What began as prompt development and image generation was translated into a practical scenic system that helped establish mood, strengthen transitions between scenes, and give the production a more immersive cinematic identity.

This project reflects the way I approach generative tools in creative work: not as a shortcut, but as part of a directed visual process. The value was not only in generating images, but in knowing what kind of world the story needed, which images could actually function on stage, and how to shape them into a coherent experience for a live audience.
